  • St. Louis Hispanic job fair slated for February 2010

Get your resumes ready! Five prominent St Louis area employers are sponsoring the “Who’s Hiring Now” job fair slated for early February 2010 and sponsored by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan St. Louis.

The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce announced this week that Prudential Financial, the Brown Shoe Company, Standing Partnership, Verizon Communications, Arbonne International, the Centene Corp. and the Federal Reserve Bank have agreed to participate in an event aimed at improving the job prospects of minorities and women in St Louis Missouri.

College students on track to graduate this Spring are also welcome and encouraged to post their resumes on the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Website.

“We are hearing that corporations want to diversify their managerial talent pool so we hope to meet that demand by sponsoring a job fair that can help meet that demand,” said Jorge Riopedre, executive director of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

The St Louis Job fair will run from 6-8 p.m. on February 10, 2010 at the chamber’s Technology and Resource Center, 3611 South Grand Blvd. Suite 105 St. Louis, MO 63118

The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan St. Louis was incorporated on April 28, 1982. The incorporators were: Maria Elena Alonso; Manuel De La O; Michael Mahler; Jennie Ojeda; Anthony B. Ramirez; Maria Isabel Thompson; Mario Santander; B. A. Villarreal; and Luis G. Zambrana. Shortly thereafter, the Chamber was accepted as an affiliate of the United Stated Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC), which currently has more than two hundred affiliates across the nation.

The Chamber has striven to support and promote Hispanic small businesses. In 2009, the organization took a major step to solidifying its role as the premier Hispanic organization in the St. Louis region when it opened a Technology & Resource Center (TRC) in the City of St. Louis. The endeavor was made possible through an appropriation from the federal government obtained by Senator Christopher “Kit” Bond. The computers at the TRC were purchased with an Accelerator Grant provided by AT&T. And the software for the computers was donated by the Microsoft Corporation.
