  • Wells Fargo Advisors hiring in St Louis, Missouri

    St. Louis Jobs - Wells Fargo Advisors has hired eight more managers in St Louis, Missouri to oversee its expanding independent brokerage arm, bringing the network's supervisory team to 26.

    The number of advisers operating independent brokerages through the Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network has grown 24 percent over the past 18 months to 900 advisers at 470 practices. The network is projecting revenue of $336 million in 2010, up 24 percent from 2009 revenue.

    To support this rapid growth in St Louis, Missouri, the company has hired more "virtual branch managers" based at the network's St. Louis headquarters, said John Peluso, president of Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network. All the new St Louis, Missouri managers were hired in the first four months of the year, with half as internal promotions and the other half coming from other companies, including Edward Jones and Stifel Financial Corp.

    The supervisory team is comprised of a director and three team leads who manage the firm’s network of regional supervisors who, in turn, serve as points of contact for the independent business owners for monitoring trades and training.

    Since 2001, the St Louis MO network's client assets have soared 600 percent to $40 billion. Peluso, who helped launch this independent channel at the firm in 2000, said he anticipates continued record growth in the network of 20 percent to 30 percent a year.

  • IBM to hire 800 for Columbia, Missouri IT center

    St Louis MO - IBM plans to open a new technology service delivery center in Columbia, Missouri, that will create up to 800 jobs for technical professionals, the company said Monday.

    The company said it will begin hiring for the new center this summer, and the facility will be operational this fall and fully staffed by the end of 2012. IBM’s technology service delivery centers provide information technology (IT) services and business process outsourcing services to IBM clients

    IBM has signed a 10-year lease, with optional extension years, for a building at 2810 LeMone Industrial Blvd. that it plans to renovate for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.

    The company said it worked with [nixon], Columbia Mayor Bob McDavid, the Missouri Department of Economic Development, the Missouri Partnership and Regional Economic Development Inc. on the project.

    The state awarded $8.6 million in Missouri BUILD and $14.7 million in Quality Jobs Program incentives. Missouri’s incentive package also includes $4.5 million in training funds and $412,500 in Employee Recruitment and Referral Savings funds.

    The new center will be the third IBM has opened in the U.S. in the last year and a half, joining North American service delivery facilities opened recently in Dubuque, Iowa, and Lansing, Mich. IBM has a network of service delivery centers in more than 20 countries, many hosting multiple sites.

    “IBM’s decision to locate its new facility, and create 800 professional IT jobs, here in Missouri is a strong sign that we’re heading in the right direction,” Nixon said in a statement. “For generations, IBM has been a trailblazer in the development and implementation of technology and software solutions, and it is exactly the type of company we want to attract and grow here in the Show-Me State.”

    Columbia Mayor Bob McDavid said in a statement that the “enormous” economic benefit from IBM’s investment there “will increase the quality of life for all Columbians for decades."

    Tim Shaughnessy, senior vice president of service delivery for IBM Global Technology Services, said in a statement, “We selected Columbia for our newest facility based on several criteria, including the strong public-private partnership with the state and city, a competitive business model and the talent and skills that Missouri and the Midwest have to offer.”

    IBM’s new service delivery center will primarily support the company’s U.S. outsourcing clients. The center will provide server systems operations, security services and end-user services, including maintenance and systems monitoring. Employees will manage the servers and storage systems.

  • Six Flags in Eureka, Missouri hiring 3,000

    Six Flags St. Louis in Eureka, Missouri, is hiring more than 3,000 employees to fill positions for the 2010 season, which kicks off April 2, 2010.

    The theme park said it saw a record number of applicants last year and is already seeing that trend continue this year with 40 percent more 2009 employees returning — the highest rate in nearly a decade and should boost the number of [jobs.

    And it’s not just teens. Six Flags is seeing more adults who have been laid-off or are looking for second jobs, said spokeswoman Elizabeth Gotway.

    Six Flags is hosting job fairs at the theme park February 6, 20, 27; March 6, 13, 20 and April 3, 10 and 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. - New York-based Six Flags is working to exit bankruptcy in March.

  • St. Louis Hispanic job fair slated for February 2010

    Get your resumes ready! Five prominent St Louis area employers are sponsoring the “Who’s Hiring Now” job fair slated for early February 2010 and sponsored by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan St. Louis.

    The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce announced this week that Prudential Financial, the Brown Shoe Company, Standing Partnership, Verizon Communications, Arbonne International, the Centene Corp. and the Federal Reserve Bank have agreed to participate in an event aimed at improving the job prospects of minorities and women in St Louis Missouri.

    College students on track to graduate this Spring are also welcome and encouraged to post their resumes on the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Website.

    “We are hearing that corporations want to diversify their managerial talent pool so we hope to meet that demand by sponsoring a job fair that can help meet that demand,” said Jorge Riopedre, executive director of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Shortly thereafter, the Chamber was accepted as an affiliate of the United Stated Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC), which currently has more than two hundred affiliates across the nation.

    The Chamber has striven to support and promote Hispanic small businesses. In 2009, the organization took a major step to solidifying its role as the premier Hispanic organization in the St. Louis region when it opened a Technology & Resource Center (TRC) in the City of St. Louis. The endeavor was made possible through an appropriation from the federal government obtained by Senator Christopher “Kit” Bond. The computers at the TRC were purchased with an Accelerator Grant provided by AT&T. And the software for the computers was donated by the Microsoft Corporation.
