Brad Richards battles St. Louis Blues   Martin St Louis is congratulated by teammates Vincent Lecavalier  goaltender Manny Legace makes a pad save  Brad Boyes slams Tampa Bay

Paul Ranger scored twice, Martin St. Louis had a goal and two assists and the Lightning won their 5th consecutive road game over the St. Louis Blues Tuesday night at the Scottrade Center.  Jason Ward and Nick Tarnasky also scored for the Lightning. Vincent Lacavalier picked up a pair of assists for Tampa Bay, which is now unbeaten away from home since Jan. 5. The Lightning also own road victories during this streak over Ottawa, Pittsburgh, Florida and the New York Rangers. Tampa Bay still has the worst road record in the league at 8-14-2.

The St. Louis Blues, who dropped their 9th game in the last 11, got goals from Brad Boyes, Keith Tkachuk, Jamal Mayers and David Perron. "You shouldn't have to score as many goals as we've had to score to get points at home," Blues coach Andy Murray said. Nick Tarnasky's 5th of the season gave the Lightning a 5-2 lead at 14:55, but Mayers would pull the Blues within two 7 seconds later. Perron scored with 22.1 seconds left to cut the deficit to one with a sixth attacker on the ice.

"They had some lucky breaks," said Manny Legace, who stopped 19 shots. "I thought we outplayed them. They got the breaks, and that's the difference in the game."

Ranger's 10th goal of the season gave the Lightning a 4-2 lead 7:13 into the third period. His back-hander deflected off the skate of Blues defenseman Bryce Salvador, another unlucky bounce.

Ward, a healthy scratch in the Lightning's last game, gave the Tampa Bay their third lead of the game after his shot from the slot deflected off a Blues stick and into the net at 4:25 of the third.

St. Louis gave the Lightning a 2-1 lead with his 20th goal of the season on the power play in the second period. St. Louis, stationed in front of Blues goalie Manny Legace, tipped Vincent Lecavalier's shot home at 6:55. Tkachuk tied the game at 2-2 with a power-play goal of his own, his 17th of the season and the 490th goal of his career. Tkachuk deflected Eric Brewer's shot over Holmqvist's blocker in the second period.

The Lightning took a 1-0 first period lead on the ninth goal. Ranger took a nifty backhand pass from St. Louis and beat Legace with a wrist shot high glove side, another sucky ass goal.

But the Blues came back strong and tied the game later on Boyes 30th of the season, his 9th goal in the last 12 games. Boyes' shot from the left circle deflected off Tampa Bay's Craig MacDonald and over the glove hand of Holmqvist. Despite the victory, Tampa Bay coach John Tortorella was not pleased with his team's play, especially down the stretch.

"You can't even enjoy a win," Tortorella said. "It's just awful. It's just no pride in detail."  Ok so that really hurts since we lost to these losers!

Alexander Radulov was a freak on MLK day in Nashville - Radulov had 2 goals and an assist and the Nashville Predators beat the St. Louis Blues 6-3.

"That was a solid game by Radulov," Nashville coach Barry Trotz said. "He's paying a lot more attention to detail and it showed tonight. He was dynamic with the puck."

Martin Gelinas also scored two for Nashville, and Shea Weber and Scott Nichol piled on the other goals. The Predators are 7-2-2 in their last 11 games. Chris Mason finished strong with 31 saves.

Brad Boyes, Dan Hinote and Keith Tkachuk scored for the Blues, who have lost 5 ugly games in a row.

Boyes had St. Louis in front with his 27th goal of the season in the first period. He got a pass from Andy McDonald and slipped it in from the low slot.

Weber had a power-play goal and Nichol also beat Manny Legace to help Nashville take a 2-1 lead after the first period. Nichol scored two short-handed goals against Legace on Saturday in the first game of the home-and-home series between the teams.

The St Louis Blues tied it on Hinote's rebound goal in the second but Nashville went ahead for good on Radulov's backhander. Gelinas' deflection of defenseman Greg deVries' shot from the left point with just 37.2 seconds remaining in the period made it 4-2. Radulov scored again just 1:58 into the third, and Gelinas had an empty-netter to complete the scoring. Legace made 21 saves but was not sharp.

"We failed to execute in certain key situations," Andy Murray said. "I thought that we did some solid things, but we can't give up that many goals on that few of shots."

The Predators are now in second place thanks to the Blues, in the tightly contested Central Division.

Nashville and Columbus each have 52 points, but the Predators have one more victory and have played one less game.

Tkachuk accounted for the third St. Louis goal at 2:57 of the third period - too little too late.

Weber's power-play goal was the first Nashville scored against the Blues this season. Prior to the goal, St. Louis had successfully killed all 16 Predators power plays this season. Ah the good ole days

The Chicago Blackhawks Patrick Lalime made 32 big saves in his 2nd straight start in place of Nikolai Khabibulin, and Patrick Kane had 2 goals and an assist in the Blackhawks' 6-1 win over the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday night. Lalime will start a third straight time when the Blackhawks play at Colorado on Friday.

Nikolai Khabibulin, Chicago's top netminder and highest-paid player, has a seven-game personal losing streak. Lalime was Ottawa's top goalie for four seasons, from 2000-04, and gives the Blackhawks another solid option.

Dustin Byfuglien added a goal and two assists for Chicago, which won its second straight following an eight-game (0-6-2) losing streak. Jack Skille, Rene Bourque and Yanic Perreault also scored for the Blackhawks.

Lee Stempniak scored for the Blues, who lost their 3rd straight.  St. Louis Blues starting goalie Manny Legace left after the first period with an injured right arm after getting hammered into the net. Legace had been named to the Western Conference All-Star team last week.

Blues coach Andy Murray said Legace's injury isn't serious and he'll be back in the nets for the St. Louis' next game at home on Saturday against Nashville. Legace stopped all 7 shots he faced in the first, including several tough chances. Marek Schwarz replaced him to start the second and made only eight saves.

Marek Schwarz, who had played just 11 minutes with the Blues previously this season, had been recalled from Peoria of the AHL on Monday. The Blues had sent Legace's regular backup, Hannu Toivonen, down to Peoria to get some playing time.

Marek Schwarz appeared in only his fourth NHL game. Previously, he had played a total of just 71 minutes in the league. "It wasn't easy, but I should have done much better than I did," Schwarz said. "When I get called up, I'm always ready to play."

Kane, the NHL's leading rookie scorer with 43 points, ended a nine-game skid without a goal. "Hopefully we can start a little streak here to make up for our losing streak," Kane said. "It was a good all-around team win."

The Chicago Blackhawks played without seven regulars: defenseman James Wisniewski (knee) and forwards Jonathan Toews (knee), Jason Williams (groin), Kevyn Adams (knee), Dave Bolland (broken finger), Ben Eager (concussion) and Martin Lapointe (flu).

Manny Legace stopped Chicago's Robert Lang three times in the first period, including with a diving glove save just 1:42 in. Manny Legace suffered his injury with 4:38 left in the first. Blues trainer Ray Barile attended to goalie on the ice and Legace played the remainder of the period.

Chicago's Patrick Sharp drove to the net, but was hammered by Blues defenseman Barret Jackman. Sharp was knocked over Legace's right pad and flew headfirst into the net. Sharp wasn't injured, which kinda sucked.

Skille opened the scoring at 9:19 of the second. After Chicago's Tuomo Ruutu checked St. Louis defenseman Jay McKee off the puck in the right corner, Skille drove to the net and lofted in a backhand shot.

Bourque made it 2-0 with 4:41 left in the second. His screened shot from left wing beat Schwarz high on the stick side.

Stempniak cut it to 2-1 with 1:19 remaining in the period, converting a rebound of David Backes' shot from left wing. Although he apparently was covered by Chicago defenseman Brent Seabrook, Stempniak shoveled in a loose puck after Lalime made a pad save.

Kane made it 3-1 with a power-play goal at 1:02 of the second period. From the inside edge of the right circle, he fired in a one-time shot after taking Byfuglien's cross-ice pass.

Byfuglien made it 4-1 with 7:23 left in the third when his shot deflected in of Bryce Salvador's skate. St. Louis Blues coach Andy Murray pulled Schwarz for an extra attacker with 6:50 left. Kane scored an empty-net goal with 5:22 left. Schwarz returned after the goal.

The Sedin twins carried the Vancouver Canucks' offense in regulation. A low-scoring rookie defenseman brought them home -- again.

Daniel and Henrik Sedin combined for five points, and Alex Edler decided a shootout for the second time in four games in the Vancouver Canucks' 4-3 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Sunday night.

"I really want to shoot, but I know a defenseman doesn't get that many chances," said the 21-year-old Edler, a second-round pick in 2004. "But I scored the other night and I got the chance again."

Edler, who has two goals and 10 points in 38 games, was the Canucks' second shooter and beat Manny Legace between the pads. He netted the winner in a victory over the Islanders on Tuesday when he scored in the sixth round, and is 2-for-2 in shootout chances.

"I had no idea what he was going to do," Legace said. "I shouldn't have tried to fake a poke check, and as soon as I did it he shot it through my legs."

Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo stopped Brad Boyes, Paul Kariya and Andy McDonald in the shootout.

Daniel Sedin had a goal and two assists, and twin brother Henrik had a goal and an assist for the Canucks, who rebounded from consecutive losses to Phoenix and San Jose and snapped a three-game road losing streak. Vancouver, 12-9-2 on the road, entered the night in a three-way tie for first place in the Northwest Division.

"I think we were on our toes from the beginning," Daniel Sedin said. "When we forecheck good we usually play good."

Low-scoring defenseman Christian Backman had a goal and an assist, and Kariya had two assists for the Blues, who were 2-2 during a stretch of four games in six days. Backman scored his first goal of the season and set up Keith Tkachuk's breakaway goal in the second period, giving him 10 points in 39 games.

But the Blues couldn't quite recover from a 3-1 deficit early in the second period.

"I thought we had a rather sluggish start and I didn't feel we lost the extra point in the shootout," coach Andy Murray said. "I thought we lost it with our start but we found a way to keep ourselves in the game."

Taylor Pyatt assisted on both of Vancouver's first-period goals, but left late in the period when he was struck in the face by the puck. He didn't return and coach Alain Vigneault said Pyatt would visit the Blues' team dentist on Monday.

"It took longer than we expected to stitch him up, and his teeth are sort of in the back of his mouth right now," Vigneault said. "Until they take an X-ray, there's not much you can tell."

Brad Boyes' 25th goal ended a 2-for-43 drought on the power play for St. Louis and tied it at 3 at 11:15 of the third. Boyes, who needs one goal to match his career high set in 2005-06 with Boston, scored on a one-timer off a backhand feed from Kariya.

The Blues scored first for the seventh straight game, connecting on their first shot when Boyes feathered a backhand feed in front to Backman for a backhander at 5:11.

St. Louis was whistled for three penalties during the last half of the period, helping the Canucks take control. Daniel Sedin beat the defense after taking a long pass from Pyatt at the blue line and then roofed a shot for his 21st goal at 10:49 to tie it at 1. Henrik Sedin got his eighth on a deflection from Pyatt at 18:04.

Markus Naslund was alone in front after a cross-ice feed from Henrik Sedin, slipping the puck around Legace on a power play for a 3-1 lead 35 seconds into the second period. Tkachuk's breakaway at 4:45 cut the deficit to one when he whistled a shot past Luongo after a long pass from Backman that was tipped by Kariya.

Pyatt was struck in the face with the puck with 1:19 to go in the first period when he got in the way of Eric Brewer's clearing pass. He was down for several minutes while bleeding, then left the ice holding a towel to his face.

The Edmonton Oiler' s Shawn Horcoff had one goal and an assist and then scored the only goal in the third round of a shootout in the Oilers's 5-4 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night. The Oilers are 2-10-3 in St. Louis since the 1999 and are also 8-1 in shootouts this season.

Horcoff is 3-for-3 in shootouts after beating backup goalie Hannu Toivenen for the winner to cap a do-it-all night. His 15th goal tied it at 1 in the first period, he helped tie it again when he set up Dustin Penner's second-period goal, and played a key role in killing a late 5-on-3 power play.

Fernando Pisani's first goal of the season tied it at 4 with 4:08 to go for the Oilers in the third period, who also snapped a three-game losing streak.

Doug Weight had 2 goals and an assist for the St Louis Blues, whose six-game home winning streak ended. Weight has four goals in the last three games after failing to score in the first 25 games, but was one of three Blues to come up empty in the shootout against Mathieu Garon.

The Blues missed an easy chance to win it when Raffi Torres was called for interference and Jarret Stoll for boarding, both with 2:18 to go and a 5 man advantage! Horcoff cleared the puck twice, tipping passes at the point, and Keith Tkachuk was thwarted twice in the final 20 seconds on a point-blank rebound shot that was wide and a deflection that was stuffed by Mathieu Garon.

Rookie defenseman and 1st round draft choice Erik Johnson assisted on three second-period goals for the Blues, who are 10-4 at home. Two nights after a 9-5 loss at Colorado, the most goals allowed by the franchise since 1994, the Blues played another wide-open game and squandered four one-goal leads.

Garon also stopped David Perron and Brad Boyes in the shootout, each player going for the glove side. Blues coach Andy Murray had saved Paul Kariya and Lee Stempniak for the last two rounds.

Toivenen stopped Sam Gagner on a backhand and Ales Hemsky shot high, but could only get a piece on the game-winner when Horcoff barreled in and snapped off a quick shot. Toivenen, who made 25 saves after giving up eight of the Avalanche's nine goals two days earlier, said he should have made the save on Horcoff, too.

Sheldon Souray scored in his first game back after missing 25 games because of a sprained left shoulder for the Oilers, who also got three assists from Hemsky. Dustin Penner also scored his eighth goal of the year.

David Backes' power-play goal at 6:39 of the first came on St. Louis' first shot, and was his first goal in six games since returning from a knee injury. Boyes also scored for the Blues.

Congrats to Kieth Tkachuk was honored in a pre-game ceremony that included a video montage after becoming the 28th U.S.-born player to appear in 1,000 games earlier this month.

  • St Louis Blues Rob Ramage Loses Civil Law suit and $9.5 M

St Louis jury awarded a cool $9.5 million in a lawsuit against former Rob Ramage (St. Louis Blues hockey player ) over the traffic death of former Chicago Blackhawks star Keith Magnuson.

Rob Ramage, 48, of Chesterfield, Missouri and National Car Rentals of Canada were the defendants in St. Louis County Circuit Court by Magnuson's family.

Keith Magnuson former Blackhawks defensemen and head coach, was a passenger in a car driven by Ramage in a head-on collision in Toronto on Dec. 15, 2003.

Ramage was drunk and was convicted last month in Ontario of impaired driving causing death and four other charges. He is going to get sentenced on January 17 and could get up to 14 years in prison.

The wrongful-death suit was filed here in St Louis, Ramage's place of residence. Jurors in Clayton deliberated about two hours before returning their verdict against Ramage and the rental company. Magnuson was survived by his wife, Cynthia; his son, Kevin; and daughter, Molly.

In closing arguments, the attorneys for Magnuson's family, Grant Davis of Kansas City and Dan Kotin of Chicago were shooting for damages in the range of $25 million to $33 million.

Beth Boggs, the attorney for National Car Rental, which is equally liable although its only role was renting Ramage a car, told jurors that $2.5 millon would fairly compensate the family.

Scott Harper, Ramage's attorney, made a brief statement at the end of the case, making no mention of an amount. He told the jury only, "Rob accepts responsibility for the death of Keith Magnuson and awaits your verdict."

Rob Ramage did not attend any of the four-day trial.

Brad Boyes is a freak!  The Blues center scored the only goal in the shootout, and the St. Louis Blues won their third straight by beating the Nashville Predators 3-2 Saturday night in Nashville.

The Blues defeated the Columbus Bluejackets 3-2 on Friday night at home, had been the only NHL team not to reach overtime this season.

Backup Hannu Toivonen stopped 35 shots as Nashville outshot the Blues 37-20 during regulation, then he smothered shots from J.P. Dumont, Martin Erat and Alexander Radulov in the shootout to win it.

Radulov and Jordin Tootoo each scored a goal for Nashville, 6-0-1 in its previous 7 games.

Goalie Chris Mason stuffed Blues rookie David Perron and ex-teammate Paul Kariya, playing in his first game back in Nashville since leaving as a free agent. But Boyes, who also had a goal in regulation, clinched the win by faking Mason to the goalie's right, then sliding the puck behind Mason's right skate with a masterful move.

    Sexy Celebrity Photos 2007

David Perron also had a goal for the Blues, who have won their first two against Nashville this season. The Blues will host the Predators on Monday night and go for the sweep.

The Predators welcomed Kariya with a video montage midway through the first period, which Kariya watched while perched on the boards in front of the Blues bench. Fans gave Kariya a round of applause.

Kariya's ex-teammates didn't give him much room to operate.

Tonight also marked the return of Nashville defenseman Shea Weber, who dislocated his kneecap in the season opener on Oct. 4. Weber quickly made a difference, shooting from the right circle to set up the first goal.

Weber took a shot from the right circle, and Radulov flipped the rebound into the open net at 15:54 of the first for a 1-0 lead.

Nashville kept the puck in front of Toivonen most of the second period, outshooting the Blues 16-6. But Boyes tied it at 12:43 with a wrister off the rebound of his own miss during 4-on-4 play. David Perron put St. Louis up 2-1 at 17:43 with a backhander over Mason's right leg as the goalie out of position.

Jordin Tootoo tied the game 57 seconds later, with a lucky tipin off a shot from Martin Gelinas.

Toivonen stopped a shot in front by Radulov during a power play to keep the game tied. He stopped a shot from Jason Arnott within the final 20 seconds to force overtime, then made a pad save on Marek Zidlicky's shot and gloved another from Radek Bonk.

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Brad Boyes' goal drought is over, and so is the St. Louis Blues' frustration against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Paul Kariya scored in the first period and set up Boyes' go-ahead goal with 2:27 to go in the St. Louis Blues' 3-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night. Boyes had nine goals in the first 10 games, but had totaled one assist in his previous five.

"He's got such a terrific release and he had some big-time chances," Kariya said. "He was due."

Jamal Mayers added an empty-netter in the final minute for the Blues, shut out in the first two meetings by the Blue Jackets. St. Louis has won two straight after losing three in a row, and killing off a lengthy 5-on-3 advantage in the third period was a key.

"Our defensive specialists did an outstanding job," St. Louis coach Andy Murray said. "We were saying on the bench, 'Now it's up to you offensive players to get it going on the other end."'

Al MacInnis was honored for his recent Hall of Fame induction in a pre-game ceremony, with the franchise announcing it has commissioned a bronze statue in his likeness that will be placed outside the Scottrade Center alongside one of Bernie Federko.

Curtis Glencross scored his second goal of the season and Rick Nash netted his 13th with 6.3 seconds to go for the Blue Jackets, who won a pair of 3-0 games at home in the first two meetings against the Blues.

"We played well," Columbus coach Ken Hitchcock said. "We made a big mistake at the end of the game in our own zone and it cost us."

The Blues began the game in a scoreless drought of 144 minutes, 32 seconds against the Blue Jackets, and ended it after 163 minutes and 15 seconds on Kariya's rebound goal late in the first period. Manny Legace made 29 saves for St. Louis, which started backup Hannu Toivonen the first two games against Columbus.

The Blue Jackets, who got shutouts from Pascal Leclair the first two meetings, got 20 saves from backup Fredrik Norrena.

Kariya, the Blues' leading scorer with 18 points, scored his fourth goal on a rebound with 1:17 to go in the first period -- also his first point in four games. On the go-ahead goal, he slipped a backhand pass from behind the net to a wide-open Boyes, who scored his 10th goal but first in six games.

"Obviously they didn't pick me up right away so I just wanted to get it off," Boyes said. "I had a couple of chances earlier that I missed so this was just 'shoot the puck."'

Glencross tied it at 5:19 of the third, banging in a rebound before the net was lifted off its moorings by Blues defenseman Erik Johnson, who had been knocked off balance behind the net. The goal was allowed after a lengthy replay because the posts were still in place, although Legace said the situation was a major distraction.

"I don't understand how you can play when the crossbar's lying across my neck," Legace said. "It rattled me for a little while and it could have rattled our whole team."

The Blues killed off 1:36 of a two-man advantage midway through the third, with Legace stopping three shots and defenseman Bryce Salvador stopping another when a deflection struck him in the jaw and left him on the ice for a few minutes.

Salvador recovered in time to make his next shift, however, and also assisted on the go-ahead goal.

"We have to do better, we have to score, that's a must goal," Nash said. "It's almost impossible not to get a goal, or even a better scoring chance."

The Blues' 19-year-old rookie David Perron, the team's first-round pick this summer, played in his ninth game, one below the threshold for sending him back to juniors without losing a year of control over his rights. In the third period the Blues announced Perron also would be in the lineup on Saturday at Nashville. "David has shown he can play in the National Hockey League and has earned a spot," team president John Davidson said in a release. ... Kariya has 36 points in 34 career games against Columbus.

The Detroit Red Wings look to rebound Tuesday against the slumping St. Louis Blues as they continue a long stretch of games against Central Division teams.

The Red Wings, whose 27 points are the most in the Western Conference, failed to break a team record for consecutive victories Sunday with a 3-2 loss at Chicago. The defeat, which snapped a three-game road win streak, was Detroit's 3rd of the season to the Blackhawks and first overall since a 6-3 loss at Anaheim on Oct. 15.

"We've been on a good stretch and it's hard to win every night in this league," Mike Babcock said. "Sometimes a loss is a good reminder to get you back on track.

"I don't think we had any spunk. They were outracing us to pucks in one-on-one battles."
The Wings dropped to 2-1 during a nine-game stretch against Central opponents.

Detroit forward Henrik Zetterberg recorded an assist Sunday, extending his team-record season-opening point streak to 17 games. He's among the league leaders with 27 points.

In 24 games against the Blues, Zetterberg has 13 goals and 16 assists for 29 points, his best totals in all three categories against any club. He's been held to one assist over his last 4 games at the Scottrade Center and has no points in the last two - both Detroit losses.

Zetterberg's seven points against the Blues last season tied Pavel Datsyuk and Nicklas Lidstrom for the team lead and helped the Red Wings win the series 4-1-3.

Lidstrom scored his second goal of the season Sunday and has 10 points in the last 9 games. The five-time Norris Trophy winner has a career-best 65 points in 90 games against the Blues, the second-best such point total among Red Wings to Steve Yzerman's 133.

The Wings could have Dominik Hasek back in goal Tuesday after he watched Chris Osgood make 24 saves Sunday. Hasek sat out against the Blackhawks after making 15 saves in a 4-1 win over Columbus on Friday, his first game since missing five with a hip injury. The 6 time Vezina winner is 6-2-2 with a 1.86 goals-against average in 10 starts at St. Louis.

The St Louis Blues are looking to break a season-high 3 game losing streak after falling 4-2 to the Blackhawks on Friday. They haven't dropped four in a row since an 11-game slide from Nov. 25-Dec. 17, which included two defeats to Detroit.  Blues schedule for November:

St. Louis has totaled 35 goals, better only than the New York Rangers' league-low 34.

The Blues went 2-for-6 on the power play Friday, but they're among the worst teams in the NHL with the man advantage at 13.2%. St. Louis has 9 power play goals, 2 better than NHL-worst Edmonton.

The Blues hope Brad Boyes can get his game back on track. The right wing scored nine goals in his first 11 games this season but will be
