National championship will be September 23-25, 2009

LOUIS MISSOURI NEWS (stlouismo.com) /PRNewswire/ -- Host to an impressive list of tournaments, The Country Club of St. Albans can now add one more distinction to its resume: the 2009 USGA Men's State Team Championship. The national championship -. slated for September 23 to 25, 2009 -. will be played on the club's decorated Lewis and Clark course.

The USGA Men's State Team Championship grew out of the United States Golf Association's 1995 centennial celebration. Held every two years, the championship brings together teams of three non-college, amateur golfers from each state.

The Lewis and Clark course is one of two 18-hole championship golf courses at St. Albans. A traditional links course, the Lewis and Clark course features natural creeks and topography changes. The course was designed by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Moorish, the design team behind many highly regarded golf courses across the country.
Both of St. Albans' courses are ranked among the best by Golf Digest magazine for beauty, conditioning, ambiance and difficulty, among other attributes. One of the top 100 Platinum Clubs of America, the prestigious Country Club of St. Albans also offers competitive and recreational tennis and swimming and award-winning epicurean dining. The USGA is the national governing body of golf in this country and Mexico, a combined territory that includes more than half the world's golfers and golf courses.
