ST. LOUIS MO NEWS (stlouismo.com) Governor Matt Blunt today announced that two organizations in St. Louis have been approved to receive a total of $195,100 in state tax credits through the Youth Opportunities Program to fund their respective programs to help children and families in the St. Louis region.
“The most effective solutions for helping children are most often found in our local communities,” Gov. Blunt said. “I am pleased we are able to provide resources to the St. Louis Crisis Nursery and Logos Inc. to fund projects that help young Missourians and their families.”
St. Louis Crisis Nursery will receive $115,100 to fund its S.O.S. for Kids program and the Family Empowerment Program (FEP) to help prevent child abuse and neglect and to strengthen families. Through these programs, children and their families throughout the St. Louis area will receive emergency intervention and care, assessment, counseling, and education and support services.
Logos Inc., is a therapeutic middle and high school serving at-risk students struggling with behavioral, social, emotional, and mental health issues. They will receive $80,000 for their intensive counseling and support program for students and their families.
The Youth Opportunities Program, administered by the Missouri Department of Economic Development, provides tax credits to organizations administering positive youth development or crime prevention projects.
