ST LOUIS MO NEWS (stlouismo) —Governor Matt Blunt today announced that Cameron Regional YMCA has been approved to receive $51,925 in state tax credits from the Youth Opportunities Program to provide after school and summer school programs for at-risk children.
“Missouri children are our most valuable resource and it is our responsibility to do everything we can to protect them and help them become productive, responsible members of society,” Gov. Blunt said. “I commend the Cameron Regional YMCA for pursuing this state assistance to outreach to young Missourians in their area to teach them good virtues and the values that make our state so great.”
The Cameron Regional YMCA provides recreational services and activities for students and families in a four county area. The YMCA will utilize these resources to provide after school and summer school programs to at-risk children. Young people are taught and expected to exhibit the four core values of the organization: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
The Youth Opportunities Program, administered by the Missouri Department of Economic Development, provides tax credits to organizations administering positive development or crime prevention projects.
