Webster Groves voters approved a tax increase for Library

Webster Groves Missouri voters on Tuesday strongly approved a tax increase that would allow the city's library to renovate and expand its building at 301 East Lockwood Avenue and provide some additional money to operate the service.

The vote was 1,180 yes and 783 no — a 60.11 percent favorable vote — on a tax increase of 13.5 cents for each $100 of assessed valuation.

In the Troy, Missouri school district, voters vehemently rejected a 39-cent tax increase for operating the district. The vote was 1,184 for and 2,039 against the proposal, a 63.26 percent negative vote.

In a primary in Maplewood's 1st Ward, voters selected incumbent City Council member Dodi Brown and political newcomer David Cerven to run against each other on April 7. The voters eliminated former council member Dave Clark. The vote was 58 for Cerven, 24 for Brown and 22 for Clark.
